Match Report:

Despite the dark clouds above the weather was great, and despite the fact that St Pauli were playing (and lost ;-) ) at JSP there was a good crowd, the majority of them rooting for TeBe.
TeBe made a very nervous start and played surprisingly defensively against a team that have started very poorly in the league and certainly one of the weaker teams this season. Perhaps not a great shock to be fair though after the missed chances against Yelsiyurt and the two goals that lost it for us on the break last week.
The first half left us 1-0 down and the signs were there on the wall for the more pessemistic of us. The second half was better and although the free kick goal from Griesert looked a bit lucky we started to dominate the game to get the deserved result. TeBe looked especially dangerous with Fuss and Kadow up front.
Perhaps it is winning matches like this that make the important breaks for a team but we have the three points and I hope there is more in the team than this.... in fact I know there is - Come on TeBe!

5 Euros in (student) and 2,50 a beer makes Preussen one of the more expensive teams to visit in the league. If it had rained then we would have been soaked. Apparently the sausages were ok and the Casino bar was friendly and cosy with good service and the football on TV. All in all - not bad but a bit expensive. Some of the fair weather TeBe fans may have been excused for going to Pauli instead for probably about the same price and for many of them much closer to home. For the real fans there can be no excuse.

What could be seen as "Block E" collected at the far side of the pitch and now and again managed to get a song or two on the go. Long walk to the toilets and the bar though. A good crowd there even if the older fans took their traditional places on the seats opposite in a very mixed block.

There's a small track around the pitch and even a little sandpit. Quite a number of police though for a very low level game in a very friendly atmosphere. One of the security had an orange jacket with "Security 88" on the back which really doesnt have to be. Why not skip straight to 89?

Word got round that there were a group of English lads over to watch TeBe! Imagine my amazement.

Well not quite true that they had come just to see TeBe but they were over for a stag weekend and fancied a match to pass the afternoon with some beers. They made a good choice, getting to meet Ryan T as well as a few of the other players and many of our English speaking fans. LJ Kruze, the stag I believe, even gave me a cool T-shirt as a present. Good luck with the wedding lads and hope to see you all soon. Sorry it didnt work out on Sunday but I arrived back from Leipzig rather late and in a poor state at that.

3 Points for TeBe and the traditional victory celebration with the fans. The table now looks like this:

TeBe vs Cuba

I booked my tickets back to the UK a while back as I had to go to my mate's wedding. I was disappointed to miss the first match against Cuba (Cuba won 1-0) and the fan festival to get the season off to a good start. But my flight back in the earlier hours of the 30th was a lucky choice with TeBe playing Cuba at home at 17.00 on that very day - and although perhaps not the greatest match ever, the signs for the coming season were very positive.

TeBe 4 - Cuba 0

Goals: Griesert (13.), Vuckovic (19.), Kadow (50.) and Kollmorgen (71.)

Team: Greil (46. Hampf) - Schalle, Thiam, Below (65. Scholl) - Weidner (53. Karadag), Petrowsky (53. Eckl), Lemcke (46. Mansour), Galic (46. Perez) - Savran (53. Kollmorgen), Vuckovic (46. Fuß), Griesert (46. Kadow).

- I was very impressed with our second giant Thiam in defence who added height but also gave us pace at the back.

- Micha was very unlucky to score twice with some good running and shooting.

- The whole team played some lovely passing plays and looked dangerous up front but solid at the back.

- With Greil and Hampf we have two great goalkeepers to chose from.

- It was just a friendly against a tired and maybe hungover Cuban team but still it is fair to say I think that we can certainly see positive signs for the coming season. See how things go on Friday when we meet Hansa Rostock 2 in the first match of the season. I cant wait.

Back home. A good crowd, lovely weather and a great atmosphere despite the completely mixed fan arrangements making singing a little tricky.

Purple White Indoctrination starts young. Congratulations to Intro S and his family for the real highlight of the day. What a beautiful little baby! Only 10 to go!

After spending the first half catching up with old faces i remembered to take some photos in the second 45 minutes.

TeBe were playing very well, with nice moves, a solid defence and some good chances as well as the 4 goals.

4-0 and a very convincing result.

Despite rumours I think they were really the Cuban team, probably just a bit tired from a long European tour and perhaps a bit hungover.

We believe in TeBe!
